About the Artist
Leslie Serrano
As a young girl, I discovered my passion for gemstones through my mother, a biology teacher who saw so much beauty in the earthly world around us. My mothers’ love for stones; their colors, their stories, their shapes, their history, their unique magical and mystical swirls of light fueled my creative juices and gave me a playground in creation as different and unique as it was special.
A zest for travel and exploring has taken me on many a journey and has afforded me the opportunities to select, create and showcase my jewelry creations all over the world. One such journey landed me in Nashville, TN where I pursued another avenue of creativity in writing and singing music. While there, I worked odd jobs while pursuing a musical career and I happened to make the acquaintance of a jewelry designer who saw my talent and creativity and offered me the chance to create a few pieces with her. I made my first ring of copper wire and a small selection of beads and wore it the very next day. I was waitressing and was asked by customer after customer where I had gotten the ring, and where they could get one? That next night I created about a dozen replicas of that ring and took them to work. I sold out before the end of my shift, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that my future would never be complete, nor would my soul, unless I followed my heart and could give anyone and everyone their own unique, completely original, beautiful piece or pieces of art.
In my 20 plus years as a designer, I have sold my jewelry to music business and entertainment royalty and have teamed up with a multitude of pageants on both national and international levels. Some of my pieces have appeared in well-known reality T.V. shows such as The Real Housewives of Dallas and Atlanta, but to date my favorite showcases have been local craft fairs where I get to interact with everyday people and get to show them how gemstones can speak to them. How their beauty, their story, their individuality can fit anyone, for any occasion.
I could not be more thrilled to continue fulfilling this dream as I begin this online journey and to share my one-of-a-kind creations with a much bigger audience. I love to create timeless elegant pieces that can be shared as family heirlooms from generation to generation – mother to daughter, father to son, grandmother to granddaughter. The stones I chose for my creations can evoke many emotions, they can take you from a darkly spirited fall day to the brightest summer sun, to a winter wonderland or to a burst of new life in the spring. They can speak of painful memories and energize a spirit, heal a broken heart, lift a weary soul, or just make a simple smile that much bigger.
Please look around, and I hope that you enjoy Bound by Nature. If you have any questions, if you have an idea for a piece, or just want to reach out and ask about some of the magical places I’ve picked up gemstones, or what emotion was I working with when a piece came to life, drop me a line. I would love to hear from you, as creating jewelry for others has the most spirit lifting, joy creating, soul healing profound effect on me, and I hope you will allow me to share those feelings with you.
